Can't change folder permission settings in outlook

Symptoms of the problem

The user is trying to set permissions on a resource or shared calendar. They have the correct permissions on the calendar in Exchange (i.e. they are an owner) but report that the permissions option is greyed out or unavailable when they try to set permissions.

Cause of the problem

There is a Calendar Permissions button (large) on the Outlook ribbon. That big button will only work for the primary/personal calendar and will be greyed out when a shared or resource calendar is selected.

Resolution of the problem

There are two ways to manage calendar permissions in Outlook but only one will work with Shared/Resource calendars (i.e. a calendar other than the primary account calendar).

To grant permissions on a calendar, right-click on the calendar in the list of calendars and select "Properties". Then select "Permissions" from the next window that pops up and adjust/assign access accordingly.
